Examples of Mr. Hawkins’s work include the following projects:
Estimation of patent damages in the semiconductor industry: Developed and refined econometric models to estimate the relationship between processor performance and price as part of a reasonable royalty damages analysis.
Estimation of market definition and monopoly power in the tech industry: Analyzed antitrust liability issues in connection with Walker Process antitrust claims alleging that the assertion of illegally obtained patents allowed a major global technology company to maintain monopoly power in a market for certain consumer goods.
Evaluation of alleged monopsony in the agricultural industry: Analyzed sales and farmer contract data and researched policies regarding USDA subsidies to explore the determinants of price changes for a major agricultural commodity.
Assessment of alleged price fixing in the consumer-packaged goods industry: Researched input markets and analyzed sales data to determine whether a reduction in package size constituted price fixing. Assessed reasonable damages relating to the alleged price fixing.
Mr. Hawkins previously worked in the competition practice at a global consulting firm where he contributed research to expert reports and coordinated data processing responsibilities. He has further experience in economics as an undergraduate teaching assistant for the Vancouver School of Economics.
