Matthew Wright’s consulting work has included analysis of mergers, vertical restraints, price fixing claims, monopolization, damages, price discrimination, and intellectual property matters. He has experience in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, freight transportation, tobacco, casinos, music rights, food industries, electronic equipment, business services, various branded consumer goods.

Dr. Wright has provided economic testimony on antitrust liability, damages, Robinson-Patman, and intellectual property matters. He has also represented clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and the European Commission. Dr. Wright co-edited and contributed to the American Bar Association volume titled Antitrust Law and Economics of Product Distribution.

Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) describes Dr. Wright as “a deeply respected authority in competition economics, known for his rigorous analysis, policy fluency, and expert testimony that consistently shapes decisive outcomes in complex antitrust and regulatory matters.” He is further recognized for his “deep understanding of competition economics involving monopolisation, damages estimation and merger analysis across an array of industries, including transport, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods, among others.”

Before joining Secretariat, Dr. Wright served seven years as an economist with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where he worked on many mergers, civil non-merger matters, and price-fixing investigations. Dr. Wright also served as a technical advisor to six foreign governments on competition policy.
