Dr. Hamann uses her background in electrochemistry to understand and solve complex problems in the corrosion and materials science sectors. She has experience consulting in numerous industries including gas and electric utilities, medical devices, and consumer electronics.
Dr. Hamann has multiple years of experience consulting on both proactive and reactive technical matters and has also worked in ongoing support and advisory roles for long-term client projects. She is familiar with numerous materials testing and characterization techniques which are commonly used in failure analysis and has worked with multidisciplinary teams to identify root cause, particularly for corrosion-related failures. Dr. Hamann has field experience assessing corrosion and has also designed and executed test plans to evaluate corrosion susceptibility of materials. She is knowledgeable about common corrosion prevention and mitigation strategies and, as an AMPP-certified Cathodic Protection Technician, has experience designing, implementing, testing, and troubleshooting cathodic protection (CP) systems.
Prior to joining Secretariat, Dr. Hamann worked for a corrosion control company which provided CP and corrosion engineering services worldwide. In this role, she assisted with annual monitoring of CP systems for Department of Defense assets, performed regular testing and troubleshooting for numerous commercial construction projects in Southern California, and designed both galvanic and impressed current CP systems for new infrastructure. Before that, she was a Senior Associate at a large scientific consulting firm.
Dr. Hamann received her PhD from Caltech, where she studied the photo-electrodeposition of nano-structured semiconducting films. In this role, she frequently utilized common materials characterization techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
