Justin Dominguez is a geotechnical engineer experienced in the exploration, design, and construction of shallow and deep foundations, excavation support systems, retaining walls, bulkheads, seawalls, piers, levees, floodwalls, and dams for a variety of clients, including private developers, engineering firms, state and local government agencies, and energy utilities. He has a deep understanding of soil mechanics honed from years of experience on jobsites, in the lab, and in the office solving complex geotechnical engineering problems.
Mr. Dominguez specializes in the investigation of structures that have performed poorly during or after construction and has designed repairs to address deficiencies identified during the investigations. He also has extensive experience in seepage and groundwater flow modeling, including evaluations of dams and levees, relief wells, seepage cutoff walls, and sub-slab drainage systems.
Mr. Dominguez has a diverse range of design experience for a number of different end-users, including port and waterfront facilities; foundations, retaining walls, support of excavation systems, and sub-slab drainage systems for buildings and transportation structures; seismic retrofits of dams and coal ash impoundment ponds; and repairs and upgrades to dams and levees. He spent several years managing a geotechnical laboratory that specialized in developing bespoke high-end testing programs to support slope stability evaluations of mine tailings impoundments.
Mr. Dominguez is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section, and ASTM International, and is active in ASTM’s D18 Committee on Soil and Rock.
