Amy (Barr) Patrick is a structural and civil engineer with more than 15 years of experience in the engineering and construction industries specializing in building enclosure, structural, and civil site matters across a variety of project types. She additionally consults on building enclosure, structural, and civil site matters for owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals, and is an experienced expert witness in disputes over construction defects.
Based in the Houston, Texas area, Ms. Patrick began work as a forensic engineer with Secretariat in 2024 as an Associate Director. Since 2013, she has been an adjunct professor of structural analysis and design at the University of Houston – Downtown. She is an experienced expert witness who has previously testified in depositions, arbitrations, and at jury trial. Her focuses include forensic structural engineering, forensic civil engineering, and forensic building envelope analysis.
Ms. Patrick is passionate about community outreach and is a two-time panelist for the Hockaday Alumnae in Technology and Science program, along with being a founding mentor of the Houston Chapter of the ACE Mentor Program, for which she served as past Scholarships Chair and on the Executive Board of Directors. She served on the Project Lead the Way advisory board for the Houston Independent School District and assisted with the program’s accreditation.
In December 2011, Ms. Patrick traveled to Brazil as one of a U.S. Department of State delegation of eight women scientists chosen for a special diplomatic mission to study the advancement of women in STEM fields. In 2014, she was a recipient of the University of Illinois CEE Young Alumni Award.
Ms. Patrick is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the states of California and Texas.
